March 22, 2018 @ Orlando Ballet Company Studios
7 PM Doors - 7:30PM Show

Note: this concert will be held at the Orlando Ballet Company Studios, 610 N. Lake Formosa Drive.

We're back! This time out, our 17-piece chamber orchestra will be led by conductor Benoit Glazer, and will feature acclaimed soprano Ariadne Greif in a performance of The Pieces that Fall to Earth, by Christopher Cerrone. Greif is an Orlando favorite, having performed in the Orlando Philharmonic’s premiere Women in Song Series, and starred as Adina in Elixir of Love, and as Papagena in The Magic Flute.

Alterity Chamber Orchestra makes the debut of their full 15-pieces ensemble, featuring top local musicians performing the works of acclaimed composers of our time. Julius Eastman’s Stay On It (1973) exemplifies his innovative combination of minimalism and pop-music. Nina Young’s Traced Upon Cinders evokes fading childhood memories, while Amy Beth Kirsten’s Drink Me, depicts the macabre elements of children’s stories and fairy tales. John Adams’ Son of Chamber Symphony exemplifies Adams’ compositional hallmarks: driving rhythms, cheeky musical quotes, beautiful and meandering melodies, and big finishes.
John Adams – Son of Chamber Symphony
Nina Young – Traced Upon Cinders
Julius Eastman – Stay on It
Amy Beth Kirsten – Drink Me
